Assisting ministers help lead a worship service with the presiding pastor. The assisting minister leads parts of the worship service and may sing (chant) if they so desire. If the lay reader of Scripture is not present at a service, the assisting minister is called up to read the first two Scripture Lessons. The assisting minister also helps to lead the prayers and is part of the communion distribution team. The service ends with the dismissal spoken by the assisting minister.
